Hybrid Zones
After an initial grant, DE ecotecten have received approval from the jury of the Netherlands Architecture Fund (SfA) to effectively implement their study on hybrid zones.
The hybrid zone is the transitional space between house and street, public and private, architecture and urbanism, and plays an important role in establishing contact between residents and transients. The hybrid zone remains to this day both relatively unexplored and underrated.
With an integrated team, consisting of historian Wijnand Galema, urban-sociologist Gwen van Eijk, urban-psychologist Sander van der Ham and interaction-designer Jitske Menting, DE ecotecten are currently working on a strong and profound research .
